When people travel, it is everyone’s responsibility to protect the environment, not denigrate local customs, and not just take, but also give back. We at Trusted Cambodia Tours take the phrase “Responsible Tourism” seriously. Responsible Tourism can mean several things: It means not polluting the environment and the places you visit, respect for local cultures, and providing a positive experience for the guest as well as the local people they come in contact with. TCT designs tours with all of these aspects in mind.
As regards taking care of the environment, TCT strives to use less and recycle more, and we encourage our guests to do the same. We also offer popular cycling tours which not only helps the environment, but which also provides healthy exercise.
Respect for, and not intruding on local culture and traditions is also very important, and TCT does its best to provide our guests with information to as to what is appropriate, and what is not appropriate in Cambodian culture. Our charity activities include providing school supplies and school uniforms for poor kids in rural villages. We also work with NGOs to teach English and computer skills in these same communities. Guests have the chance to give meaningful help to people through hands-on activities, and direct interaction with the people they are helping.
