Siem Reap Cycling & Homestay - 08days - Unforgettable!

In recent years, climate change has been a hot topic around the world. There has been much debate regarding the cause, and the solution; but one thing is clear, the action taken by each individual as well as companies are equally important.

In our effort to reduce the impact of global warming, Trusted Cambodia Tours has designed several exciting Siem Reap Cycling Tours. Instead of using a vehicle, bikes are used as the mode of travel from one site to another.
Cycling not only helps the environment, but is also good for one’s health. Cycling tours have become popular in Siem
Reap as well as in other parts of Cambodia. The Siem Reap cycling package designed by Trusted Cambodia Tours include are perfect and flawless. The package will enable visitors to stay in the village with locals and learn about their cultures, sit and listen they are telling about their lives. Guests simply sleep on mat and bath like the locals. There is no fan, air-condition for shower in the village. Guests will do various tasks like locals do in addition, they will have chance to help improving community as well.

In the morning, guests will go shopping for fresh vegetables, fishes and other ingredients with their Cambodian families/cookers. The market is located about 15 km away from the village. The vegetables in the market are chemical free, which similar kinds of them we find in the town market mostly grown with chemicals and possibly harm your health. Some kinds of vegetables are available in your village. You can buy them from your neighbours. In the fishing season, you can find fishes available in your villages as well. So you don’t need to travel to the market but if you need other things then you still need to go to the market. A mode of travel from Village to market can be either by bike or motor bike. After come back from the market, it is time for you to learn cooking Khmer food with our local cookers. There are a lot of dishes for Khmer food but Korkou soup maybe one of the best Khmer foods that you must try.  In general, people eat only one dish per meal. There is no Starter, Main Course and dessert like European or American people.

There are lots of works to do in the community. CAMDOC will inform you about its community developing plans and projects. The projects include vocational training, building small bridge, water well and teaching English to 157 children in CAMDOC center and 321 at other state primary schools in the villages. The local English teacher will assist you in this. If you are a tailor or clothing expert, then you will be able to help us with our sewing class. There are 13 sewing trainees are learning sewing skill in our center. What we need to do is to create paid job for those 13 after finishing their course. That’s why we will need expert to sit down and discuss with us on possible developing plans. If you are not interested in any of the above projects, it doesn’t matter, let think about building water well for the poor with our skill locals. Safe water supplied project is one of our main projects. this project plays a very crucial role in improving community’s welfare. As you may know, there is only 60% of families in the community have access to safe water (safe water here refers to water pump and other kinds of clean wells), the rest are using open wells which look dirty and unsafe. The cost of simple water well is about US$75 including concrete basin and sign. If clients still do not like above projects, they can help farmers with rice cultivation and vegetable growing.

Toilet and Bathing:
There is no shower available at their homestay. Guests will simply bath like other Cambodian families. They use a bowl to collect the water from the big jar and bathing. Otherwise, they will use a bucket to carry water from the nearby water well and bathing. For toilet, they will use a shared toilet simply built in an acceptable and usable form but it is clean. These kinds of toilets are accessible for only 50% of total families in the community. the rest families will need to go to forest when they need it. We are now working to raise fund for supporting toilet project.

Guests will simply share house with our Cambodian families. It is a simple house and no fan or air-condition. They will be protected with mosquito net.

This package is becoming more and more popular for international tourists, especially those are from Europe and America. This kind of package generates a lot of benefits to local. The children can practice their English with foreigners; the villagers will be paid for home and food serving. Even it is not much but at least it helps to lighten their daily burden. As long as visitors, they have opportunity to interact with our locals and learn about our cultures. This will be an unforgettable memory in their life.
